Realty Check on CNBC
RE/MAX International CEO, Kelly Offers 'Realty Check' on CNBC's 'The Call'
Focusing on "bright spots" in real estate, encouraging homeowners with adjusting mortgages, and pointing out possible plusses of proposed legislation, CEO Margaret Kelly gave CNBC viewers her expert take on the market during the business and finance program "The Call" on CNBC Friday.
Kelly (CRB) was armed with strong statistics and a positive outlook on the segment called "RE/MAX Realty Check." The following are emerging trends she highlighted:
· Recent increase in existing-home sales nationally.
· Real estate agents becoming buyers again.
· Recent decrease in foreclosures nationally.
"There are some bargains out there," Kelly said. "If we aren't at the bottom, we're close to it."
Kelly had a strong message for homeowners with mortgages set to readjust. She advised they contact their lenders early and "be their own advocates" to perhaps offset potential consequences of the new rates.
Asked for her insight on legislation proposed in response to recent housing market challenges, Kelly said she sees potential advantages in the bill for average homeowners. Another upside she forsees: tax credits for buyers of foreclosed homes.
